NEWS JUST IN: The Met Office has notified us that the UK is to expect a turn to colder conditions moving into next week.
Traditionally our gritting season would finish today and all winter maintenance vehicles would be washed, polished and stored away until October; and all our winter operatives would get some well-earned full night’s sleep and a chance to enjoy the longer warmer evenings.
Based on their long-range forecast, the Met Office are predicting some wide spread night frost over the coming week along with chance of ice and wintry showers further into the north. It is anticipated that by the middle of next week even the south of England will have seen colder conditions.
As a result of the Met Office forecasts we have extended our service by a further week until the 28th April- this is only the second time this has ever happened in our 60+ years of winter maintenance experience!
Our operatives are all on standby and vehicles are loaded in preparation to make sure we keep all our customers safe. British weather is staying true to form by being as unpredictable as ever- but you can rely on The Gritting Company to provide a fully flexible service as an when required.
