The Gritting Company's Summer So Far...
7th July 2017
Even though we’re in the midst of summer, it doesn’t mean the Gritting Company is slowing down anytime soon!
Even though we’re in the midst of summer, it doesn’t mean the Gritting Company is slowing down anytime soon! Our team is very busy prepping for the upcoming winter season, investing in new equipment and attending exhibitions, ready for when we’ll be getting into our trucks and going out gritting and snow clearing this October.
However, behind the scenes, there have been some exciting developments within our gritting team over the summer, including weddings, team outings and new babies! Here is the Gritting Company’s summer so far….
First off, we’d like to say a big congratulations to Sarah, who married her childhood sweetheart at the start of the summer. The Gritting Company has been there to help along the way, pitching in with ideas, signing for her deliveries and of course, consuming the masses of food and liquid refreshments at the fantastic post-wedding lawn party. You’re welcome, Sarah.
Ryan and the Gritting Company have received some exciting news regarding his apprenticeship! Ryan, in our Vehicle Maintenance Department who ensure our snow clearance in Leeds and UK wide gritting goes smoothly and without any hitches, has been nominated for Apprentice of the Year at the Bradford Means Business Awards 2017.
Ryan completed his level two and three Heavy Goods Mechanic Apprenticeship with us last year and his tutor nominated him for the prestigious awards due to his hard work and dedication! Part way through Ryan’s studies, the college he attended stopped providing the course and he had to switch colleges. Despite these challenges, Ryan was able to complete his studies in 3 years, rather than 4, setting the example that hard work really does pay off! He has made it to the top 3 and we’ll find out later this month if he has won. Good luck Ryan!
Last month, The Gritting Company very happily returned to ExCel London for the Facilities Show 2017! This year was a huge success and we have come away feeling very positive and excited about future new contracts. It was a pleasure to meet so many people and talk about snow clearance and gritting in Leeds and throughout the rest of the UK! If you popped over for a chat, thank you! We look forward to speaking to you again soon.
The next congratulations goes to Paul, our Northern Depot Manager, who recently found out he is going to be a daddy again! The Gritting Team is over the moon and we can’t wait for baby cuddles when he arrives. We look forward to meeting the little one! And finally, we’re very much looking forward to the team outing that we have scheduled in later this month. We couldn’t stay away from the snow for too long, so we’re headed off for a spot of sledging. We’re really obsessed with the stuff…
