The Gritting Company are proud to be one of the UK’s largest, and longest established privately owned winter maintenance contractors operating for over 150 years. We own one of the most extensive and comprehensive fleets of gritting vehicles and ancillary equipment currently available in the UK.

The winter season of 2010/2011 saw many of our competitors running out of rock salt for spreading, which led to many of their unfortunate customers being left snow and ice bound – However this was not a problem for our customers, who experienced an uninterrupted, full gritting service – on time – everytime!

We have been keeping the whole nation moving for over 60 years – thanks to our nationwide network of over 50 depts. We provide quality coverage throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and always ensure that we have over 20,000 tonnes of salt reserves, large enough to cope with every eventuality that Mother Nature has to offer.

Through continual re-investment and development of our IT systems we use bespoke cutting edge technology to make full use of each vehicles GPRS tracking system and electronic hardware. This provides our clients with real time information on the progress of their jobs and historical data.

Daily Weather Watch

Our fully comprehensive service is very cost effective, and includes the daily monitoring of long-range weather forecasts via our agreement with the Met Office, supply and spreading of rock salt and snow clearance to every size of customer – whatever their requirements.
